Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups about 1-1/4 pounds mashed cooked rutabagas
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup soft fresh bread crumbs
  • 1/4 tsp mace
  • 1/8 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tbsp butter melted

Instructions 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Combine the rutabagas, butter, crumbs, mace, pepper, salt, sugar, ginger and milk. Beat in the egg. Turn the mixture into a buttered 1-quart casserole and brush the top with the melted butter. Bake for about 45 minutes, until brown.
