Sift together into a mixing bowl the flour, rye meal, salt, cinnamon and baking powder.
Beat the egg, add the molasses and pour into the flour mixture. Add 2/3 cup of the milk and mix thoroughly, adding more milk if necessary to make a medium stiff batter.
Drop the batter from a spoon slightly larger than a tbsp into oil heated to 360°F. Fry about 2-1/2 minutes on each side. Serve hot with maple syrup and sausages.
