Instructions
Combine and blend well: 1 cup packed brown sugar and 1/2 cup shortening
Add: 1 cup milk, 1 cup molasses. 1 cup dry bread crumbs, 2 beaten eggs, 2 cups chopped seeded raisins
Sift before measuring: 2 cups all-purpose flour
Resift with: 2 teaspoons double-acting baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon each ginger, cloves and grated nutmeg.
Add sifted ingredients to the molasses mixture.
Pour batter into a well-greased pudding mold.
Steam 1-1/2 hours.
Serve hot with prepared hard sauce or foamy sauce.
