Ingredients
  

  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 lb Swiss cheese grated or diced small (about 2-1/2 cups)
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 3 tbsp kirsch
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 loaf French bread in 1-inch cubes

Instructions 

  • Vigorously rub the inside of the casserole with the garlic clove. Pour the wine into the casserole and heat until it barely simmers. Over low heat, add the cheese a little at a time, stirring with a wooden spoon until it is melted. Stir in the nutmeg, pepper, kirsch, and salt. Give guests long-handled forks, and let them spear cubes of bread to dunk into the creamy fondue.
