Ingredients
- 1 package dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2-1/4 cups flour
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 jar 14-1/2 ounces pizza sauce
- 1 6- ounce can tomato paste
- 1 clove garlic crushed
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1-1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- Pepperoni sliced thin
- Mushrooms sliced thin
- Onion chopped
- Mozzarella cheese shredded
- Parmesan cheese grated
- Green and black olives chopped
Instructions
- Combine yeast and warm water for dough, stirring until dissolved. Add 1 cup of the flour, salt, and sugar and mix well. Add egg and oil, stirring until mixture reaches a smooth consistency. Stir in 1 cup of flour to keep dough from sticking (add extra 1/4 cup if needed). On lightly floured surface, knead dough until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl and cover with a towel. Let dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles. Let dough reach room temperature before shaping.
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. To assemble, gently stretch dough to fit a greased 16-inch pizza pan. Crimp edge to form a rim and brush dough lightly with oil. Bake without toppings until just lightly browned.
- Mix pizza sauce, tomato paste, garlic, sugar, oregano, basil, and pepper flakes. Spread evenly over crust. Arrange your choice of toppings, except the cheese, over top and bake at 450 degrees F. for 15 minutes. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan on top and bake for 5 - 10 minutes more, or until cheese is melted. Serve hot!
