Ingredients
- 40 oz apples peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 1-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons Flour
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 whole pie crust frozen, pie crust for a two-crust pie
- 1 whole egg yolk
- 1 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°.
- Mix the apples and blackberries together in a large bowl.
- Blend the dry ingredients together, and then gently mix into the fruit. Spoon the filling into the prepared pie crust, and dot with butter. Top with the remaining pie crust. Crimp the edges of the top and bottom crusts together, sealing the fruit into the shell. Whisk the egg yolk and milk together, and brush this wash over the top crust. Pierce the top pie crust several times with a knife, to allow steam to escape.
- Bake at 375° for 1-1/4 hours, until the apples are tender when poked with a thin knife. (If crust seems to be browning too quickly, reduce the heat to 325°.)
