Applesauce Baked Beans

Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon cooking oil spray
- 1 whole onion sliced
- 4 cups cooked kidney bean or other beans
- 1 cup kidney bean juice
- ¼ cup vinegar
- ¾ cup molasses
- 1 cup unsweetened apple sauce
- 1 - 6 oz can tomato paste
- 2 tablespoon dry mustard
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 oz canadian bacon cooked (optional)
- 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 325°. Spray a 9-inch square, deep baking pan or bean pot with cooking oil. Arrange sliced onion on bottom of pan. Add beans. Combine remaining ingredients and stir into beans. Cook covered for 2-1/2 hours. Remove lid and cook uncovered for 30 minutes or until browned on top.
