Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rye meal not regular rye flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp molasses
- 1 cup milk approximately
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Sift together into a mixing bowl the flour, rye meal, salt, cinnamon and baking powder.
- Beat the egg, add the molasses and pour into the flour mixture. Add 2/3 cup of the milk and mix thoroughly, adding more milk if necessary to make a medium stiff batter.
- Drop the batter from a spoon slightly larger than a tbsp into oil heated to 360°F. Fry about 2-1/2 minutes on each side. Serve hot with maple syrup and sausages.
