Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 1 lb Swiss cheese grated or diced small (about 2-1/2 cups)
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper
- 3 tbsp kirsch
- Salt to taste
- 1 loaf French bread in 1-inch cubes
Instructions
- Vigorously rub the inside of the casserole with the garlic clove. Pour the wine into the casserole and heat until it barely simmers. Over low heat, add the cheese a little at a time, stirring with a wooden spoon until it is melted. Stir in the nutmeg, pepper, kirsch, and salt. Give guests long-handled forks, and let them spear cubes of bread to dunk into the creamy fondue.
