Ingredients
- 1-1/2 - 2 lbs smoked haddock
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1 medium onion sliced thin
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
- 1 cup milk
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- Dash of cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Soak the haddock in warm water for 1 hour.
- Butter a shallow baking dish. Place the haddock in the baking dish.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Melt the butter in a skillet and cook the onion over medium heat until soft.
- Stir in remaining ingredients, and pour mixture over the haddock.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
