Turkey and Cranberry French Toast Sandwiches

Ingredients
- 4 oz sliced deli turkey breast
- 4 1/2- inch-thick slices Vienna or Italian bread
- 2 tbsp cranberry chutney cranberry sauce or cranberry relish
- 2 slices provolone cheese
- 1 tbsp butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- Dash of nutmeg
- Sifted powdered sugar optional
Instructions
- Divide turkey over two slices of bread. Spread turkey with cranberry chutney. Top with cheese and close sandwiches with the remaining two slices of bread.
- Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Beat egg in a pie plate or large shallow bowl and beat in milk and nutmeg.
- Place one sandwich at a time in the egg mixture and let stand for 30 seconds per side.
- Cook in the melted butter for 3 to 4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cheese is melted. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
